Melaka (Malacca), Malaysia

This was a short weekend trip to Melaka (Malacca). It’s just 1.5 hour to 2 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. I stayed at The Explorer Hotel which was walking distance to Jonker Street and every tourist destinations (museums, river cruise, and food stalls).

I tried the Menara Taming Sari which gives an overview of the city of Melaka.

Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre

The Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre is an elephant sanctuary located in Temerloh in the state of Pahang, Malaysia within the Krau Game Reserve. Mala, my work colleague, invited me to visit this Elephant Sanctuary. There is a minimal fee to bathe with the elephants at the river with a guided tour. But to see and feed the elephants is free.

This is Shaqeel, Mala's son.

I taught him how to do selfies and he has been doing it very well.

This is the sticker that the tour guide has given us, his name is Kamil.

We have been trying to take a photo of him with the sign board 'Elephant Sanctuary' but he could not stay still.

I was very a little bit uncomfortable with the bathing of the elephants at the river cause this elephant just poo-poo'ed before we bathed him...

Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

I travelled to Cameron Highlands with Josie and Julie. This is my first trip with my housemates, after we moved to Seri Puteri. Everything is going perfectly well in the new place by the way! It’s fantastic!

So we decided to leave on a Friday evening, after work and took the last bus leaving at 5:30pm from Kuala Lumpur Pudu Raya station to Cameron Highlands. We arrived past 10pm. I saw a sign from the road side that bears the name of our hotel, “Heritage Hotel”, so I asked the bus driver, if that is where the hotel leads to. We have not arrived the bus stop yet. The driver said yes, that is the way to the hotel, so we stopped and walked a little bit uphill and checked in at an amazing hotel in our room with 3 single beds! That cheered us all up, tired from work and the journey. We all called it a night and had a good sleep. There was no airconditioning in the room and Julie kept asking me to turn it off. It was so cold (for an Asian). It’s a nice weather!

The hotel has a third party tour operator so after our breakfast at the hotel, we took one of the half day tours. It costs MYR 80 per person. Check out the photos below for the places we've visited!
