Medan, Indonesia

My uncle was here in Kuala Lumpur searching for a job. It has been two months and he still cannot find one. It is difficult to walk-in because most companies would prefer the locals. It is easier for them and there is no need to process documentation required for expatriates. So on my uncle’s second month, we have decided to go to Medan, Indonesia for a short weekend trip to “renew” his visa. We left on a Friday night and returned on Sunday. Air Asia offered a very good promotional airfare of 140 MYR per person. It was a very short 50 minute trip from KL to Medan. We stayed at Garuda Citra Hotel which is walking distance to the grand mosque.

There are only a few sights you can go for in Medan.

Al Mashun Grand Mosque, Medan

Istana Maimun or Maimun (Maimoon) Palace is an istana of Sultanate of Deli. It is one the well known landmarks in Medan.
